On the weekend, I went down to the annual film festival ‘Cinefest’ in Busselton, Western Australia with fellow actor, Alison Beer.

Our weekend started with pre-drinks followed by the premiere of ‘Toomelah.’ Toomelah tells a story of a young indigenous boy who dreams of being a gangster. He ends up getting in the middle of trouble and needs to make a choice if he should continue on this dangerous path or not. We were fortunate to meet actor Dean Daley-Jones at the premiere.

Saturday was a big day. In the morning we squeezed in a quick trip around the Margaret River region to gather yummy gourmet food and wine before heading back to Cinefest. We started by watching Craig Lahiff’s film ‘Swerve’ starring Emma Booth. It was a fantastic movie! It was very entertaining the whole way through, what a great story. I recommend people see it when it’s out theatrically next year. After the film, Annie Muragh-Monks hosted a Q&A with the director and producer. It was great hearing about all the attention to detail that goes on behind the scenes. Alison and I were lucky to have a good chat and congratulate Craig Lahiff at the Gala dinner that evening.

Following Swerve we quickly frocked up for Tim Swallow’s photography exhibition at Art Geo, who we met the night before. Followed by the red carpet premiere of ‘Eye of The Storm.’ Then it was off to the Gala Dinner at the Goose where we bumped into our friend Daniel Tenni. We meet some lovely people while sneaking in some delicious seafood (I had trouble pulling Alison away from the Oyster table!)
